From Thomas -- What follows is a post by a "smart voter" who knows what is best for Democrats, but it's really just crazy-ass Joe Stockett. My favorite description of him comes from the Politics1 site about the 7th District race.
I'm going to leave this up for one day if you want to offer your thoughts on what place a racist, religious bigot has in this contest. Then it goes the way of the buffalo. "Hippie Joe" Stockett (D) - Bartender, Neo-Nazi Activist & '06 Candidate It is not critical or urgent for democrats residing in the 7th Congressional District to brave cold and snow to vote for Andre Carson in the March 11th Special Election.
If there were some world-shaking critically important legislation pending in Congress and Carson was needed to break a tie then maybe I would bother to get to the polls.
That's not the case though. If Carson does win the only reason he would be traveling to Washington DC would be to attend the Black Muslim Mosque whose members helped finance his campaign here in Indiana, and then bring the whole bunch over with Carson's buddy Louis Farrakan to hang out in Julia Carson's old congressional office.
After all the money Carson has spent on a constant barrage of slick television commercials one would be amazed if he lost to John Elrod, who hasn't fielded a single television ad, and who can only win as the result of voter dislike and distrust of Andre Carson's arrogance, questionable character, lack of qualifications, and lingering suspicion that Carson is not the right person for the job.
Smart voters are not going out of their way to pay Carson $100,000 a year to spend on his staying here in Indiana and campaigning for the May 6th primary election, and then, of course, next November's General Election. It just reeks of special favors, political corruption, suspicious money, and dirty insider arm-twisting. Carson's campaign is a "no-brainer" for smart voters who don't like being pushed around by nit-wit political hacks from the near Northside of Indianapolis.
Better to pull the rug out from underneath Carson and dump him from viability in the May 6th primary where he thinks he is already the winner, and so do the Hillary Clinton Democrats who are pulling out all the stops to buy Carson the position so he can be a Clinton Super-Delegate at the Democratic National Convention next August.
Here Carson is an African-American Democrat and he wouldn't proclaim himself for Dr. Martin Luther King if he was the Presidential Candidate rather than Sen. Barack Obama. Why is this? It's obvious that the Democraic Party kingpins are Clinton backers and Andre Carson is their hand-picked candidate. Carson can't support Obama because he is beholden to Indiana Democratic Party players who are Clinton backers paying for Carson's campaign.
Smart voters see through this obvious effort to use Julia Carson's popularity in the 7th District to put her namesake in her place rather than giving the demcratic process a chance to work in replacing her. It's like we owe Carson to our support because he was "Grandma's boy" and smart voters don't appreciate the message lurking behind the manipulation.
In fact, former Congressman Andy Jacobs, a close Carson family friend and chum, selected Carson before Julia Carson had a single spade of dirt thrown on her casket. Why was this? Who does some left-over plate of truck-stop hashbrowns like Andy Jacobs think he is to pick his special pet to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives? Real smart voters in the 7th District are just as tired of these fake public servants as they are of dilapidated vacant houses, crack-head whores sitting on their porches, and murderers running amok in their neighborhoods. And what does Andre Carson 's slick television ad promise? Nothing! Just a pretty picture of Carson wearing a suit and mouthing pious platitudes about "better schools" and blah, blah, blah.
It won't hurt the smart Democratic Party loyalists to let nature run its course and just plain boycott the March 11th Special Election because the Indiana State Democratic leadership has no moral claim to demand that smart voters act stupid and do as they are told by those selfsame leaders who behave themselves like slave-masters on a plantation.
Furthermore, just how bright are these leaders? A few years ago they selected Sen. Joseph Lieberman to be the nominee for Vice-President on their Party ticket with Al Gore. He still calls himself a Democrat even though he has endorsed Republican John McCain for President.
Republican John Elrod is a reasonably progressive moderate young politician who can't do too much damage in the few months he'll be in Congress should he stumble into victory rather than defeat.
Of course he'll have a tougher fight next November to keep his job because by then smart Democratic voters will have replaced Mr. Carson with someone who will be competent, qualified, experienced, and well-organized among the constituents of the 7th District.
Why elect Carson to brag, smirk, and hang out at the mosque for nine months and then be obligated to support him again next November in a General Election where his weak character, bad habits, and slick television ads probably won't buy him a seat at a local elementary school carnival. It is better for the Democratic Party that Carson loses because he was a bad party-rigged pick.
Now that Indianapolis's former mayor has thrown his considerable influence behind Carson with another one of those slick television ads most folks are going to conclude that this is a "done deal"; but I'm not so sure the smart voters who support Barack Obama are to impressed with the Senator from Indiana's self-serving support for Bill & Hillary Clinton's return to ruling the world from their old White House haunts where Bill spent his morning entertaining the mail-room girl, Monica Lewinsky. Is the present Senator from the great state of Indiana one of her 'friends' too? And I don't mean Senator Luger either.
There is just too much "hanky-panky" going on with this whole effort to shove Andre' Carson down our throats and then expect good, hard-working, law-abiding, responsible Christian citizens to keep their mouths shut, do what their told, and then come to a victory party for Carson where they can pay a buck for a can of soda pop. And then repeat the whole charade again in May?
No! Smart Voter has been a Democrat since 1967 and I am absolutely, definitely, positive beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I will not be voting for Mr. Andre' Carson on March 11, 2008. I might not vote for his rival because I am a Democrat and I really have to be highly motivated to vote for a Republican, but I want Carson to lose because he is a loser, and doesn't deserve to win.
Carson does not merit or deserve my vote and he won't be getting it, and I encourage all the other smart voters in the 7th District to follow my well-considered, thoughtful decision.Smart voter has examined all the issues involved in this election cycle and clearly endorses John Elrod in the March 11, 2008 Special Election for the above carefully enunciated reasons.
