I will be conducting an experiment next month here at Blue Indiana which I am excited to tell you all about. Meet the Bloggers will premier live on Blue Indiana at 12 noon on June 3rd and will have a 4 week experimental run. This will be a live streaming audio talk show with a similar format to Meet the Press in which I will host bloggers, politicians and other newsworthy figures in discussion of hot topics of the week and other issues of interest to listeners. The show will begin with an overview of the week's headlines, followed by a prerecorded interview with a notable person of interest, possibly a politician, a journalist or other figure. Following the interview, I will lead a roundtable discussion with a panel of two bloggers each week and a round of questions from our audience who will be able to call in to the show and discuss topics with our panel. The whole thing will be recorded to an mp3 file for sharing and posted as a podcast after the show in the iTunes Podcasts store for downloading. Blog Talk Radio provides a free service which allows hosts like me to produce live streaming audio shows using a telephone based production system. Once you register with them to have your own channel on the BTR website, you are given two distinct phone numbers which allow the host and either guests or audience members who wish to call in to the host can use to connect to the BTR system. The guest/audience number allows you to connect up to 5 callers at a time to the system to hold group discussions with the host which are then streamed live via the BTR site's channel page for the show. A Flash media player on that page allows listeners to listen to your live show and the player can be placed on the host's website as an embedable player as well. I'm looking forward to conducting this experimental run of 4 shows in June from the Blue Indiana site. Nothing like this has ever been done in Indiana so I feel like we'll be breaking new ground with this show. It will also be nice to get bloggers, politicians and other news figures together to discuss issues facing our state and nation in a forum such as this. If you are a blogger, politician, business leader, activist or other person interested in participating in this experiment as a panelist let me know and I'd be happy to accomodate you. I'll have specific guest details and more information about the experimental run in the next couple of weeks and will post more on this soon. |
