Indianapolis - Attorney Paul Ogden, 47, today announced plans to hold a taxpayer rally at the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The rally, which is called "Revolt at the State House," is supported by several local political blogs including "Ogden on Politics" and "Hoosiers for Fair Taxation" and various taxpayer groups not only in Indianapolis but all across the state.

[...]

Ogden noted the tremendous work blogger Gary Welsh of Advance Indiana had done on this issue of corporate welfare in Indianapolis and that part of the purpose of the rally was to take these types of issues from the pages of the political blogs directly to the General Assembly.

Melyssa Donaghy of Hoosiers for Fair Taxation also noted that the rally will include the need for ethics reform.

LOCAL LEADER ANNOUNCES "BATSHIT CRAZY BLOGGER DAY" AT THE STATEHOUSE

Indianapolis -- Thomas Cook, 24, has announced plans to hold a "Batshit Crazy Blogger Day" at the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The rally, which will coincide with the so-called "Revolt at the State House," is supported by several local political blogs including "Ogden on Politics" and "Hoosiers for Fair Taxation" and various taxpayer groups not only in Indianapolis but all across the state.

"I've often told my friends that the only thing better than reading the incoherent ramblings of emotionally unstable activists at home is gawking at them in person, and this was an opportunity too great to pass up," said Cook.

Particular topics will include: "Barack Obama: Crazy Muslim Terrorist," "Jennifer Wagner is the Goddamn Devil," "We all know Jim Shella reads our blog: How to confront him, and what to say!" and 'No, really -- they all read our blogs!"

Cook noted the tremendous work blogger Gary Welsh of Advance Indiana had done to put the batshit crazy bloggers of Indianapolis on the map.

"As Gary is always telling me -- without him, we're nothing."

Details forthcoming...

Gary Welsh doesn't take criticism well !

is this a joke? (0.00 / 0)
No one in her/his right mind would praise Advance Indiana or give any credence to it.  This tells me that this must be a gathering of wingnuts that I wouldn't want to be seen with.  I might enjoy Batshit Crazy Blogger Day.......Advance Indiana is not used to people speaking back....he moderates all dissenting views.

I love your press release, Thomas. (0.00 / 0)
Very funny!

"It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority."  --Benjamin Franklin

Yes, even Democratic authority.

Ogden is a Nut (0.00 / 0)
I personally have known that Ogden character his entire life.  He's a nut case, a loose cannon.  I think he might have some sort of mental illness, involving delusions of grandeur.  I mean, he's freaking out of his mind if he doesn't think taxpayers should not be asked to pay more money to bail out the CIB.  Who is he to question the great city leaders, Fred Glass and Bob Grand, who have so ably led the CIB to where we are today?  Paul is just some hick from the hills of Southeast Indiana.  He should go back to where he came from.

need help?? (0.00 / 0)
Do you need help packing?

Not Help Packing... (0.00 / 0)
But if you could spare a few hundred thousand that would be nice.  I'd actually like to retire to Hawaii.  Now, that I think about it I might need more than that.

speaking of... (0.00 / 0)
how did i now know that there's an anti-ogden blog?

oh, so much drama...

not (0.00 / 0)
how did i not know, that is.

In every field of thistles (0.00 / 0)
there are a few flowers.

Gary sometimes advances good causes.  Melyssa has excellent points sometimes.  And Ogden is laser-sharp on taxes.

This rally only needs the political equivalent of "give em more rope."  I hate to be a snob, but let 'em go, and hope for lots of cameras.

Without sound and captions, it could easily be mistaken for something sillier.  With sound, it'll be entertaining.

even a stopped clock (0.00 / 0)
is right twice a day.

i will say that i'm glad gary has found a new local issue to be mad about...  it means that now he's only blogging about obama's birth certificate once a week instead of daily.

I welcome Blue Indiana activists (0.00 / 0)
I actually welcome Blue Indiana activists to this event.  It will give us an excellent opportunity to open the eyes of the public to what is really happening in government and raise a whole new level of suspicion.

Also, I have met Paul Ogden once and he seems like a sensible man so calling him a nut job shows me that the respondent cannot argue philosophical differences and resorts to name calling and innuendo as their means of debate.  This is one of the biggest problems we face as so many people are entrenched upon the idea of protecting the status quo of their political idealism while not even realizing that their support is literally bankrupting them and our nation at the same time.

Nonetheless, I remember watching a YouTube video of SC Governor on (I believe) CSPAN.  The caller was upset because the SC Governor says he will not take the stimulus monies.  As I listened to the concerned citizen of SC, he went on and stated that for years the US Government has been taking the people's monies in taxes and that when times are bad like now, we should gladly accept the money to help struggling families.   After this man spoke, I sat there and started thinking...why did the Governor not challenge this man's ideas by educating him about how money works?   Does this man believe the government actually has money?  Does he not understand that the government is BROKE?  So how can the government give us something they do not have?

Answer:
The government has two options when they need money.  They can either raise our taxes or they can print more money.  If they print more money (which has happened to the tune of over $2 trillion dollars in the past year--which is a 25% increase in the amount of dollars in the system), then as the money filters in the economy, prices goes up--which is known as inflation.  Yes we are going through a period of deflation which is just as detrimental as inflation because it squeezes profits and eventually leads to layoffs or the business having to go under.  I consider our current economic climate as being a tsunami where as the economy starts to get worse, the water recedes from the shores and goes back to the ocean leaving people bewildered where the water went.  As inflation builds, the tidal wave will hit the shores and wipe the people out of all their money.  What is truly happening is that the government (through the process of bailouts/rescue/stimulus plans) is going to make the economy much worse.  I am preparing to protect myself during this situation as I know the government cannot protect me and I fear that as the economy gets worse, the government will need to clench on to the people and we will then move to a more authortarian form of government.

The other option (0.00 / 0)
There is another option for our government and that is to reduce it's size.  Isn't it interesting that in a time of recessions (or depressions), businesses trim their costs so they can stay profitable while governments actually increase in size and the costs to support such government goes up.

[ Parent ]
pretty simple, really (0.00 / 0)
government spending goes up in times of recession because only the government is large enough and has a big enough budget to spend the kind of money necessary to spur economic development.

[ Parent ]
Where's the money? (0.00 / 0)
If government is large enough to budget for this mess, then where is the money?  As far as I understand, the government runs on deficit spending--which is passing a budget backed by bonds (borrowing money from the future at "x" interest rate).

the company they keep (0.00 / 0)
i might've given ogden the benefit of the doubt, but if he's allying himself with gary & melyssa then forget it.  gary is still going on about barack obama's birth certificate!

First of all, I love this blog, and am really proud of all the intelligent content and links to other great blogs.

But these other Indiana political blogs...oy...I must admit I do keep an eye on Melyssa's blog, mainly to track any racist or anti-Semitic comments she makes (then claims to not have made). Over the years, I've seen her try on just about every identity in the book--to an extreme. And "grassroots politician" is just another one, and just as bat shit crazy as the other ones. As for the "Revolt," I hope there are lots of cameras and mics. If these whackjobs show up on youtube, their performances are a lot easier to post elsewhere to maximize enjoyment.

Melyssa has noticeably toned down her hate speech, probably due to the fact that her site has been referenced to B'nai B'rith and Southern Poverty Law Center. However, I guarantee that closer to the "Revolt," we will see her delusions of grandeur massively expanding.

Melyssa's prior boyfriend is Jewish. (0.00 / 0)
Usually people who are ignorant about race or other issues do not congregate around people who they fear.  Oftentimes, they subscribe to collectivist opinions where they are more concerned with being a part of a group rather than being viewed as individuals.

I have known Melyssa for nearly two years now and I have noticed that she is receptive and open to all types of people no matter what walk of life they travel.

I find your comments slanderous to her character and highly irresponsible.  I also welcome you to attack me if you so wish as I already had Greg Porter call me a "white elitist" even though he has never met me, I never made disparaging comments about people of race or orientation, and the fact that my mom & sister both date black people and I have adorable nieces and nephews who are mixed.

There is a huge misconception amongst people who think they can throw out the race card as a means to diminish people and what it shows me is the lack of character of the respondents who utilize race as a means to debate differences based upon philosophical reasoning.

This kind of logic does not fly with an intelligent crowd, WayneKirk.

Another fake identity? (0.00 / 0)
"WayneKirk" sounds suspiciously like Melyssa Donaghy herself. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it weren't really Melyssa in a bit of sockpuppetry and skullduggery...

[ Parent ]
Agreed (0.00 / 0)
I'd have to agree on the identity of Wayne Kirk. We've seen this behavior before.

I also don't see how it is slanderous to point out certain aspects of websites that are true. I know a bigoted statement or link when I see one. But I'm really glad Melyssa is "open" to "all types of people." Thanks!

if wayne is a false identity for melyssa then she's been using it for a long time.

On March 25th, you will meet me... (0.00 / 0)
On March 25th, you will meet me and know I am a real person using my real name.  I also run www.propertyfreedom.blogspot.com if you wish to know more about my thoughts.

As far as the comment above by "nadav," it appears you are using the same worn out statement which lacks any true intellectual merit and does not advance a discussion as you feel that slandering a person is "adult" way to handle problems.  If you want to have a debate, bring it on and deal with the issue at hand.  If you want to be a jerk, continue doing what you are doing.

I vouched for Melyssa's character because I know her and have grown to admire her dedication to the cause of truth and her ability to work with all types of people which is one of the main reasons why Republicans, Democrats, & Libertarians in our community are uniting...

Unlike people in our CIB, we do not operate in darkness and all we want is transparency and accountability in our community.

Clarification (0.00 / 0)
I'll back up and say that Melyssa is not a racist, but there is content on her site that I perceive as such, and I'm not backing down from that.

Thanks, nadav (0.00 / 0)
I read her site regularly, too.  She doesn't post racist or stupid stuff.  But there's plenty of it there.

I read Wayne Kirk's blog....parts of it anyway.  Some really interesting theories, but a little heavy on the conspiracy backdrop.  Great for the Black Helicopter set.

I read a wide variety of blogs often.  I have found gems in many of them.  This one is my favorite.  Rarely does Thomas get in the way.

As for the rally: as I stated earlier--stand back, give 'em room and volume.  The cranks will rise to the surface.

Reminds me of the old Irish blessing, which unfortunately supports violence, albeit in the name of flushing out the enemy:

"Lord, bless my friends, and please break the legs of mine foes, lest they be noticebale by their limps."

Conspiracy? (0.00 / 0)
Here we go again.
What conspiracies do you believe are listed?
Please be specific if you think that any information I have posed is not factual or cited directly to the topic at hand--I want real answers not innuendo as you have replied in your post.

When I study the marketplace, I do not study it just to prove that I am right--my ego can be served much better in other ways.  Also, people who study Austrian Economic Theory, like myself, are trained to only look at the marketplace through the eyes of causality (the study of cause and effect) and are more concerned with the results of the action that took place.  In my study of causality, I study praxeology (the study of human action), which describes what happens in the acting individual.

Take a look at todays' entry on my blog with a chart that describes the consequence of bailouts have upon the marketplace.
